Welcome to Kopjeskraal Country Lodge in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site
Just over an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and only 8 km out of Parys, situated amongst picturesque tree-clad Koppies, you will find Kopjeskraal Country Lodge.
Marvellous birdlife and a working farm atmosphere, far from traffic, lend Kopjeskraal a restful air.
Behind the big farmhouse is a Koppie, one of the many in the area after which the original Kopjeskraal farm was named that affords 180-degree views of Dome Bergland with glimpses of the Vaal River. The river itself lies about 1 km from the farming.
Featuring a big beautiful farmhouse, a rondavel and several more double rooms, Kopjeskraal is a perfect escape to tranquillity for groups of up to 30 people. The house has become popular for groups looking for an exclusive facility where they can be on their own, like family get-togethers, anniversaries, golfing trips, adventure- and corporate groups. The farmhouse was built in 1948 and has been renovated and fitted with furniture and fitting from that period. This is not your typical guesthouse you would find in town. Farmstay is probably more descriptive of the type of accommodation you would find at Kopjeskraal.
Dome tours are presented on the property, adventure activities like paintball, adventure games and archery, by prior arrangements, there is also fishing ( Bass and Carp ). Available on the catch and release basis. There is also a fully equipped Bush Lapa and Boma for braai with a capacity for group functions of up to 100 people.
Christo and Gerda Meyer own Kopjeskraal and are the kind of hosts you always hoped to meet: welcoming, homely and full of stories. Christo is a member of the Dome Conservancy and a registered specialist tourist guide of the Dome area. He can tell you all about efforts to preserve this wilderness area from the assaults of mining houses, developers, and, yes, tourism. There are geological formations on the farm that are of universal outstanding value.
