Parys Info & Tourism, a vital hub for promoting local tourism, has received a much-needed boost from the Fezile Dabi District Municipality. The support comes in the form of a new laptop and advertising display boards, resources that will go a long way in enhancing the office’s daily operations.
This generous contribution builds on years of collaboration between the district municipality and Parys Info & Tourism. Past support has included the co-publication of a visitor’s guide and the provision of essential administrative tools.
Werda Visser, chairperson of Parys Info & Tourism, noted that a formal request for assistance was made some time ago. The recent donation is expected to strengthen the organisation’s ability to promote Parys and the surrounding Vredefort Dome, South Africa’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Parys is currently one of just two towns in the Fezile Dabi District that operates an official tourism information centre, with the other based in Kroonstad.
Since 2001, the Parys Info & Tourism office has been located at 30 Water Street. From here, the team coordinates local tourism marketing, event promotion, and provides valuable visitor information. The office also maintains a user-friendly website and active social media channels to spotlight the town’s events, businesses, and attractions.
Members benefit from regular client referrals, quarterly feedback sessions, and annual visits to local establishments, ensuring that tourism efforts remain community-focused and collaborative.
